Attend to our Being–Boundary Setting for Asian American Womxn

FREE Workshop/Webinar–Part I

In cultures where the expectation is to sacrifice ourselves for the greater good, many of us did not feel safe, and did not learn to identify or voice our limitations and our discomfort. Many of us were especially discouraged from voicing our preferences.  As we continue to witness the chaos and violence in this world, we understand that there is much to change and improve.  At the same time, our individual selves need to be healed and be healthy to make broader changes.

Part I (was on Wed, April 6th): Attend to our Being–Boundary Setting for Asian American Womxn

  • Cultural context that conflicts/impedes boundary setting.
  • Navigating intercultural/intergenerational communication style differences.
  • Some tips for boundary setting within Asian American cultural context.
  • Q&A

Handouts:

  • Communication tips to maximize relational harmony or connection.

“Dr. Lin’s webinar was phenomenal and one of the best talks I have ever attended on Asian-American identity and experience. I highly recommend her material, which is engaging, informative, inspiring, and wise. So much truth and knowledge was shared in just 90 enjoyable minutes. I feel more empowered in my own life and to engage these topics with my own clients.”-E.R. Seattle, WA

“I appreciated the pacing of the webinar. Dr. Lin took the time to provide cultural context as well as slowing down to check in with our bodies. The cultural context resonated a lot with me as someone who feels between cultures (Taiwanese vs American). It also helped me have the language to talk about some of the difficulties of being more assertive in my romantic relationship and gave me ideas on how to set healthy boundaries with my non-Asian husband.” -L, Pittsburgh, PA

This was one of the most powerful workshops I have attended and helped me to better understand myself.” -N

“I loved Dr. Lin’s workshop training on boundaries. Everything she shared and talked about resonated with my own story. I felt validated and seen. I enjoyed how engaged the other attendees were in the chat and how Dr. Lin addressed and incorporated the comments from the attendees throughout the event. I’m grateful for being able to participate in the healing space Dr. Lin has created.” -J, WA state

“It was very powerful to be in a space meant for people who struggle to be seen and heard, to sit and acknowledge where we are, and what we can do to work on self preservation and growth.”– L, CA

“As a person that is familiar with the concepts, Dr. Lin’s presentation brought it to a different level. Thank you!” -J, Portland, OR

“Dr. Lin’s webinar created a safe space for Asian American women to share their experiences. This is not something that I’ve ever had in my entire life, and to hear everyone’s collective experiences made me realize that I’m not alone in my struggles. She truly understands how difficult it is to grow up with completely opposite cultural values at the same time, and helps us understand how to reconcile them.” -S
